A sac of golden moneyman,
A revolving-door lobbyist senator,
A dutiful credit-card congressperson,
Or a shining unelected globalist banker,
Elevated vigorously by a fearing gilded aristocracy,
Function as revolutionary forces of the upper classes,
And will reorder common people's lives without care.
And while their coin-speak comforts wealthy ears,
Their inability to understand democracy’s humanity,
Is why fascists, or those aligned, beat them so easily,
Because they do not speak to people’s daily needs,
Hiding in lofty platitudes, responding to a roll of number,
Ultimately being unable to offer concrete policy answers.
If you forget the people's daily needs,
And only see a cold system to tweak,
A utopian economic order of gain,
A holy war to win against another,
Or an image of yourself to reflect,
The people will turn on you quickly,
Especially in this quickening moment,
As they try sedate their existential reality.
Democracy is sometimes slow,
As it feels out what it needs be,
But it can move quickly too,
Faster than authoritarianism,
Because people will freely align,
Where dictators must force a line,
But it needs a vision presented,
That directly includes their labour,
And centres their messy narrative,
Of a working class hero’s lifestyle.
But you upper folks must compromise,
You can’t always have your reflection,
And your fears are not the peoples.
So who do you represent in discussion,
The economy of the wealthy fearful,
Or existentiality of everyday people?
But do not let a fascist dictate your agendas,
That is their game of shock, confuse, and blitz,
And in your reaction, you will lose people power.
You must also offer radical reform to the people,
Fear is not enough, you must update their lives,
So they may freely align themselves with you too.
But shifting to the 'mythological' centre-right,
Its a fascist's will, and they will beat you there.
You must realize the alliance with the left is your salvation,
They’ve given you your best talking points and policies.
Don't be fools, the centre-right is not yours to win anymore,
Was this not evidenced with a southern queens campaign?
But the left is waiting for you to put some real offers on table,
For they are young, broke, and ready to rally for a better future.
You must take back the conversation, by offering people real reform,
Otherwise, you will wrap your identity around your enemy's expectations,
And become like them in the process.
