Caspian Bolero Simone.

A fancy name for an audacious chirp’n cat.

An adventurous tuxedo-wearing jazz head,

Dancing bop through my roughest of times.

Came to me from cold streets, but warmed my home,

Anxious around people, but always invited me near,

Playful with kitty roommates, rolling belly for a friend,

The softest swiping padder, shocked when claws hurt,

Athletic and graceful, never a rough jump or misprance,

Talkative as a human, without judgements and distaste,

Follower to many rooms, head bumper sharing grooves,

Listening contently to a song of nightly piano nocturnes.

If there is one blessing in this life, I can truly say,

It's not a human, possession, a time, nor place,

But the look on that cosmic kitty's purring face,

One excited glance enough to fill my day bright,

One scatter running craze to get me off my chair,

One chirp enough to converse my flow into night.

And when at my worst, when tears would not cease,

Or the voices in my head tied ropes around my neck,

He was the ever-present observer that kept me alive,

Gazing eye-to-eye, contemplating the meaning of life,

Sharing his reasons for living, and why I should strive.

A pet is dedication, the cutest divinity bequeathed,

How grateful am I, to have lived close side-by-side.

A warming bundle of purring fur,

My distant soul’s tender keeper,

A blend of our watching spirits.

If there’s been a savior in this world to me,

It was set upon his black and white fur,

Who took my many pains upon himself,

So I could get by my days and live again.

Reveal blissed this sacred existence with his being,

And we loved each other’s Sheen as honest colour,

And now, to Shadow returned, imbuing our eternal.

What can I say, I really loved that snappy–dressed chirp’n cat.
