Knowing a thing, is not the same as understanding it.

One is an extension of a function, the useful repetition of that thing,

The other, of contextualizing, placing it through a dynamic universe.

A hammer develops to be used for a physical need, of hitting at spikes and nails,

But it morphs into a shaping tool, a chipper, or even weapon in certain situations.

Knowing is a one way journey that ends at utility extent,

Building itself into a great pyramid upon a pinnacle ideal.

But understanding keeps returning to see all sides around,

Unable to take knowable form, so that everything it can be.

We know a thing, so we can use it,

And understand it, to make it more.
